Katy Perry & Russell Brand: SPLIT

Ugh! I had high hopes for this marriage (even though, like everyone, I had my doubts...). Remember their fabulous "marriage rules"? So much for those....

Just over a year after their magnificant Indian wedding, Katy Perry (27) and Russell Brand (36) are calling it quits. Russell filed for divorce today, citing irreconcilable differences.

Here's what he told People Magazine: "Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I'll always adore her and I know we'll remain friends."

The divorce comes as no surprise; the Internets have been buzzing about it for days.... The two have been spotted sans wedding rings, and they spent the holidays on different continents — Katy in Hawaii, and Russell in the UK (according to People).

Katy and Russell got married last October in an extravagant ceremony in northern India, complete with elephants, jugglers and acrobats....
