Kate Winslet's baby name (hint: Goldilocks)

Luckily, we got a babysitter for tomorrow morning, so my dog and my sick six-year-old can stay here at the hotel, and I can make the long, snowy trek to the Today's Parent offices. Looking forward to a little normalcy (even a couple of hours worth)! Sighh, yes, my family's still living in a hotel room — since last Sunday, when our house flooded after #DarkTO. My thoughts are with those of you who are without power now. I hear Newfoundland is currently experiencing it. Stay safe and warm!

In the meantime, some FUN. In case you haven't heard already, Kate Winslet released the name of her new baby boy, whom she and her hubby of one year, Virgin Galactic exec Ned Rocknroll (aka Abel Smith), welcomed December 7, in West Sussex, England. The name is a somewhat surprising choice for the relatively conservative actress, but maybe not so surprising given her new hubby's name?

You guessed it, I'm sure: BEAR.

Kate and Ned have named their wee new cub Bear Winslet.

Bear joins two half siblings from Kate's previous marriages — Mia  (her daughter with producer Jim Threapleton), 13, and Joe (her son with director Sam Mendes), 10.

Not sure what inspired the name Bear. It's quite a departure from Kate's other kids' names, Mia and Joe. Indeed, that Bear was given the "Winslet" surname is also a departure, since Mia and Joe don't bear (pun not intended...) the actress's last name. My husband, Josh-O, who's sitting right here in our teeny hotel room, of course, suggested the name may be inspired by famous British adventurer/survivalist/TV host Bear Grylls. Could be!
