People say we aren't "stuck" at home, we're "safe" at home, and that's true. Anyone lucky enough to have a safe, warm place to hunker down till this thing blows over is extremely fortunate. And so it feels a bit ridiculous to worry about trivial things like hair.

And yet, our kids' hair grows. And grows and grows and grows. And in some cases, that's just not going to be OK long-term. Their hair gets in their eyes and bothers them, or gets tangled or otherwise unmanageable. And so what do parents do? We pull out the clippers or in some cases the scissors—yep, the same ones we use for cutting open packaging, breaking down poultry or kids' craft time—and we attempt a home haircut.

And then, we post the results on social media. (Because what else is there to do, right?)

Some parents do a surprisingly good job—good enough that the average person might not even know it was done at home. Others, especially those who are doing this for the first time on their own, end up with more of a...hack job. And then there are the parents who are doing ridiculous cuts on purpose, just for the fun of it. Here's a roundup of our favourite at-home haircut results:

Trimming bangs seems easy. Here's some proof it isn't:

Some families are just having fun with their hair on purpose.

Because when else can let your kid have a deliberate bird's nest bald spot hairdo?

...or a buzzcut with bangs?

Some parents are just buzzing it all off, basically.

This seems to be the go-to for those who are worried about screwing it up. And let's be real, it's also the likely outcome of the cuts we saw above.

And some cuts actually look good!

Bravo to the parents with steady hands and an eye for symmetry. May we all strive to be like you.

And of course, we have to give a shout-out to the kid hair stylists out there!

What kid doesn't want a go at cutting hair? Plus, if they perfect this skill now, Dad or Mom will never have to pay for a haircut again—even after we come out of quarantine!

No matter how the cuts turned out, it's so good to see families having fun together while we try to get through this period of isolation. If you're thinking of cutting you kids' hair: give it a go with this advice. Don't stress too much though because at the end of the day, it's just hair, and if it doesn't end up how you thought, you're not leaving the house any time soon anyways.
