Gwyneth Paltrow reveals she had a life-threatening miscarriage and that she's still thinking about having a third child.
It's weird how you can be talking about something one day and then, BAM, it happens. Just the other day, some of my Today's Parent colleagues and I were discussing how few celebrities talk about having miscarriages — only to open up our newsfeeds this weekend to find Gwyneth Paltrow, 40, all over them talking about how she had a miscarriage.
As you know, Gwyneth is married to Coldplay's Chris Martin, and they have two children together — Apple, 8.5, and Moses, 6. As Gwyneth told Mail on Sunday's You Magazine, she and Chris had tried for a third child, but sadly, the pregnancy ended in miscarriage and almost claimed her life.
“My children ask me to have a baby all the time," Gwyneth tells the mag, "And you never know, I could squeeze one more in. I am missing my third. I’m thinking about it.”
“I had a really bad experience when I was pregnant with my third. It didn’t work out and I nearly died," she continues. "So I am like, ‘Are we good here, or should we go back and try again?’“
Gwyneth doesn't go into detail about what happened with her third pregnancy. But I applaud her for sharing real-life issues that many people can relate to — like dealing with miscarriage and not knowing if your family's complete.
As for her marriage (which people love to speculate upon)? "Regardless of what happens in our marriage," she says, "I chose the best father."
