Stuff celebrity moms carry in their bags

“I carry a couple of my favourite Harajuku Lovers fragrances," Gwen Stefani has said. "I’ve got to have awesome toys ready for backup just in case any smaller humans get bored while we’re out!" We hear you, Gwen! She also says she carries almonds, her phone and action figures (of course).

When I interviewed Camila Alves, I flat-out asked her what she carries in her bag. "Basic stuff," she said. "My keys, my cellphone. As a mother you cannot go without a cellphone—forget about that! And a lip balm, and a floss. I’m a big floss person—I can’t go without a floss!"

I knew there had to be more, so I pried a bit more for some funny stuff... "I found just one sock the other day at the bottom of my handbag, and I had no idea what it was doing there," she laughed. "That’s the latest funniest thing."

Elsewhere, Camila has confessed to schlepping hubby Matthew McConaughey's stuff around town. "I’ve gotten used to carrying Matthew’s things!" she says. "His snus, the tobacco chew, always wind up in my purse. And I have his wallet and iPhone.”

"I have a princess coloring book for Vida," she adds, "one with trucks for Levi and an activity book they’re both into."

Mayim Bialik wasn't shy when OK! Magazine asked what's in her bag. Here are the items in a nutshell:

Salma Hayek says her daughter loves sneaking little mementos into her bag. "When I go out my daughter, Valentina, gives me something to remember her," she muses. "She calls it un recuerdo—a memory—and it changes all the time. She sneaks it into my bag so it's a surprise.'' Awww!

In her designer purses, celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe says you'll find a bunch of her son's stuff. "Skylar's toy cars and lollipops—they end up everywhere," she shares, "in every bag, pocket and cabinet."

And of course, she never leaves home with out her signature enormous sunglasses: "Oversized sunnies—I can’t leave the house without them! They’re part of my uniform."

Jennifer Garner doesn't leave home without her favourite Neutrogena products, of course (she's their spokesperson), including sunblock for herself and the kids. "My mom has always been a big believer in sunblock," she tells Marie Claire of the Neutrogena Pure & Free Baby Sunblock lotion she carries around with her, "and now I use this sunscreen on myself and my daughters. I like that it contains naturally sourced minerals and a strong SPF."

When Giuliana Rancic was asked what she carries in her diaper bag, the TV personality shared some good ideas. "I try to keep it simple, but I've also learned to carry two of everything," she tells SheKnows.com, "two burp cloths, teething rings, etc., because he is bound to throw something on the ground. I always keep plenty of Huggies Snug & Dry diapers and Natural Care Wipes with me so I'm prepared for a blow out! It doesn't hurt to have a change of clothes either."

Christina Applegate carries around an odd memento. "A year ago, my daughter swallowed a rock," she told Us. "She pooped it out, and I was so relieved that I saved the rock in this heart-shaped box."

"I always carry Earth's Best biscuits for Sadie, and a bottle of Fruitwater for me," she added (her daughter, Sadie, was then two years old).
