Busy Philipps: Maternity style secret

I guess one good thing about staying at home sick is that you can do your work in bed while catching up on last night's Fashion Police — SAG Awards coverage.

The hosts of the show ended up skipping over Busy Philipps' dress, in favour of such A-listers as Claire Danes (loved it), Jennifer Lawrence (liked it) and Julianne Moore (loathed it). But I liked Busy's dress, and a few people have emailed or tweeted me (I always love your tips, thanks!) about how great she looked. So, I thought we'd take a look at Busy's dress here. Our very own friendly Fashion Police.... Joan Rivers can be mean — gosh! 

 So, what do YOU think of the dress? After all, this can't be Fashion Police with only one host (me..., and my box of Kleenex).

Here are the deets: It's a navy-blue custom Gabrella Cadena "column" gown with Brian Atwood black satin sandals, that fabulous Judith Leiber clutch and STUN-NING Irene Neuwirth jewellery, which accented the dress just perfectly. Exquisite.

On the red carpet, the 33-year-old Cougar Town star told E!'s Giuliana Rancic that she wasn't sure how to dress her belly for the big night. “It was hard to decide which way to go," she said. "Do you hide the bump, do you show it off? I went with show it off! I embraced it!” She sure did, and I think she looked GORJ.

The choice of the column dress was perfect for her because it both showed off her belly and made her look long, sleek and sophisticated — especially with that strong colour, high neckline and remarkably perfect fit.

Before the event, Busy told People Magazine her secret to having a perfectly fitted maternity dress: “You have to keep fitting it because you grow every day. That’s the secret. You just have to have an amazing seamstress.”
