Veep and My Girl star Anna Chlumsky gave birth to her daughter, Penelope Joan, just six months ago, and she’s already managed to whittle down to her pre-baby weight—and she insists it was no biggie. And now… we give you… her secret!
“People have asked this, and I’ve gone, ‘Oh, I don’t know!’ Of course I know,” Anna told People at Entertainment Weekly‘s Screen Actors Guild (SAG) party last Sunday.
“I exercised a lot while I was pregnant,” she shares. “I did pregnancy workout tapes five days a week, and I did pregnancy yoga once a week. I was exercising, and it was the best thing ever [for] the fatigue….”
(Hmmm, not a revolutionary secret, to be sure! But, as someone who finally lost the baby weight after over five years of trying, I can tell you, there is no secret. Something just has to switch on/off in your brain for it all to start happening—someone just needs to find the secret to that switch… Or, you have to find the secret to your switch. But, that’s a whole other blog post!)
Because it helped her stay fit and beat the pregnancy fatigue, Anna is big-time pro exercising throughout pregnancy. “Especially if you’re cutting out caffeine,” she says, “which you really don’t have to, but if you are, you end up being so tired. Getting that oxygen, getting that blood flowing, it’s the best thing to do.”

I think I did a bit of yoga during pregnancy, and I liked it. If I were to do it again (not happening!), I’d exercise more regularly. How about you? Did/do you exercise during pregnancy? Are you as gung-ho about it as Anna is?
