She pumped mid-race without stopping, like a total boss.
Talk about taking the art of multitasking to a whole other level: new mom Anna Young pumped in the middle of running a marathon—without even stopping.
First of all, let's take a second to applaud Young for running a half marathon (that's 21 kilometres/13 miles!) at five months postpartum. (Golf claps.) But to not even let a milk leak stop her from making great time? Mama be superhuman—there is no other explanation. On top of that, she used a hand pump, which takes a bit of effort sitting down, let alone running.
Young shared the pumping-on-the-go photo on the Occupy Breastfeeding Facebook page. “I nursed my daughter before I left my house, pumped after running the first eight miles and nursed her after I made it past the finish line,” writes Young.
Half marathons take about two hours to run, so we're thinking Young must have been trying to keep her supply up by pumping. Or maybe she got engorged and wanted to take the pressure off. Either way, we think it's pretty cool that this mom didn't let her postpartum issues stop her from crossing the finish line.
