"Ever wonder what the pets you love do when you leave?"
Beat the summer heat this weekend by heading to the nearest (air conditioned) theatre—The Secret Life of Pets is (finally) out today! The movie is all about what, exactly, your furry, feathery and scaly friends do when you leave for the day. According to the filmmakers (who also made Despicable Me), it's a party for your pets: they eat the entire contents of your fridge, listen to head-banging rock music, and drink from the toilet all they want.
This adorable animated movie tells the story of a terrier named Max (voiced by Louis C.K.) and his other pet friends, living the good life in New York. That is, until Max's owner, Katie, adopts a brother for Max from the pound.
Max is not happy about his new sibling, Duke (voiced by Eric Stonestreet), moving in and ruining everything. Duke even takes over Max's bed and makes him sleep on the floor. When the unlikely duo find themselves in some trouble with Animal Control, a rabbit named Snowball (voiced by Kevin Hart) helps them out. In return, Snowball recruits them to work alongside him and other abandoned animals who have been wronged by their previous owners.
Here's the trailer, in case you missed it:
It looks super funny and we can't wait to see it (we might be more excited than the kids!). But hurry home after, because your pet is probably waiting by the door, missing you.
Or not.
