Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds welcome their first child
Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively reportedly welcomed their first child over the holidays.
[UPDATE 8:14 p.m.:] Rumours are swirling big time that the baby's name is Violet. I'll keep you posted! If it is Violet, good for Blake and Ryan for being "normal" people and naming their kid whatever they want, despite the silly "copycat" accusations (which are abounding, alas)—since Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck named their daughter Violet nine years ago.
[Original post 2:49 p.m.:] Big Hollywood baby news—huge!
The highly-anticipated first baby of Canadian heartthrob Ryan Reynolds, 37, and famously beautiful actress Blake Lively, 27, arrived over the holidays. Baby reportedly came early, in December, but "mom and baby are both healthy and doing well," a source told the New York Post‘s Page Six.
The married Hollywood It couple are keeping quiet about the details. No news yet on the sex or name of the baby. Indeed, Blake's rep has declined to comment. But, Ryan did give us a little hint (or, well, a joke) about the name back in October.
“On the plane over here I was trying to think of baby names," Ryan told People. "I don’t want a name that’s anything pretentious or, like, Hollywood-y,” he said. "So I’m going with Excalibur Anaconda Reynolds.... That’s if it’s a girl.” Ha!
Wow, Ryan Reynolds is a dad, and Blake Lively a mom—cool! Congrats to the family.
