Pregnant Alyssa Milano, 41, gives a smart, inspiring interview in the August/September issue Fit Pregnancy—particularly around the subject of pregnancy weight gain. I kind of want to frame some of these statements. Check it out.

“A female body is not made to look good in a bikini,” Alyssa tells the mag. “It’s made to give birth and have a baby and be a cozy companion for it afterward. And for my body, that meant putting on a lot of weight.” Amen!
“I didn’t indulge in fast food or junk food, so I knew it was a healthy weight,” she continues. “I just realized: This is what my body needs to do to have a healthy baby.” You know it!
The Mistresses star, who’s mom to Milo, almost 3, has had to deal with criticism of her post-baby body in the past. You may remember the Jay Mohr incident, which ended in him publicly apologizing to her after she famously tweeted, “.@
jaymohr37 So sorry you felt the need to publicly fat-shame me. Be well and God Bless. Please send my love to your beautiful wife.”
“We don’t get hungry when we’re pregnant for no reason,” she tells Fit Pregnancy.
“You’re making a skeletal system,” she explains. “You’re making organs. I refuse to look at the scale. I didn’t look at the scale with Milo until the day I gave birth. It’s funny, my file was open at my appointment yesterday and there was a big Post-it note that said, ‘She does not want to know her weight.’” Gold!
And did you just know the sex of your baby? Alyssa says she knew she was having a girl this time around.
“I had morning sickness this time, but it went away right at 12 weeks,” she says. “With Milo, I didn’t have a minute of morning sickness. So I knew it was going to be a girl.”
Alyssa and hubby David Bugliari are expecting their baby girl in the fall. Read the rest of the fabulous interview in Fit Pregnancy on stands now!
