"I f*cked up. I f*cked up."
Mila Kunis is out promoting her new film, Bad Moms, so of course she's getting asked about her "bad mom" moments. Mila revealed that her most traumatic parenting moment happened last year when she went to visit her husband, Ashton Kutcher, at work. She took baby Wyatt with her and as all parents know, travelling anywhere with a baby can be quite an ordeal.
“You have to pack all this stuff up in anticipation of everything going horribly wrong,” Mila told Babble. “And I was like, ‘I did it.’ I put her in the car. Like, I high-five myself. [As] I’m driving down the 101, I was like ‘Oh my God, I’m doing really good today.'”
And then Mila looked in her rearview mirror to see Wyatt who was smiling and happy, but not strapped in to her car seat. Oops.
“I was like, oh, f*ck me,” Mila says. “And I’m on the 101, and she’s just like blah, like fine in her car seat, nothing, no strap whatsoever. And I think I just turned white.”
Ok, who else can relate to this? You're tired, slightly frazzled and you just forget to strap the baby in. Mila, obviously, felt awful and called Ashton in tears telling him, "‘I f*cked up. I f*cked up.'"
But something recently made Mila feel better about the incident.
“A month ago, I came to get Wyatt out of the backseat of the car, and my husband [had] put her in. And so, I went in to get her out...I opened the car door, and she’s not strapped in whatsoever. And I was like thank God...I wasn’t alone,” she says.
You are definitely NOT alone, Mila. Car seat mistakes are quite common. And honestly, we all make parenting mistakes. Just be grateful that the worst thing that happened was a serious case of mommy guilt!
Mila is expecting her second child later this year, so there will inevitably be more frazzled parenting moments to come. Something I'm sure Mila's co-star Kristen Bell has warned her about. Kristen has two daughters, Lincoln, 3, and Delta, 1, so she can tell Mila all about life with a baby and a toddler—which is rather crazy.
“Every day when you’re raising kids, you feel like you could cry or crack up and just scream ‘This is ridiculous!’ because there’s so much nonsense, whether it’s what they’re saying to you or the fact that there’s avocado or poop on every surface,” Kristen recently told Today.
There really is so much poop—in so many colours.
Now, even though Kristen is in a movie called Bad Moms, she doesn't like that label.
"I choose not to label myself under any circumstance," she "I’m not a good mom; I’m not a bad mom. I’m the mom I am and I try very hard, and when I fail, that’s OK."
Damn straight, every parent is just doing the best they can.
So what about you. What was your biggest parenting mistakes?
