Kate Winslet talks about her failed marriages, her body image as she approaches 40 and the funny place she stores her Oscar!
Mom-of-three Kate Winslet, 39, has been in making headlines for finally opening up about her two failed marriages.
The Oscar-winning actress and star of the new Steve Jobs movie tells all (well, relatively a lot) in the latest issue of WSJ Magazine. She's received major backlash for having three kids with three different husbands, but, as she notes, she's never really talked about it.
"No one really knows what has happened in my life," she says of her two previous marriages. "No one really knows why my first marriage didn't last; no one knows why my second didn't. And I'm proud of those silences."
Kate now co-parents 14-year-old Mia, with her first husband, Jim Threapleton, and 11-year-old Joe with her second husband, director Sam Mendes—and she and her current hubby, Ned Rocknroll, have a two-year-old son together, named Bear Blaze.
"I know lots of people who are not in the public eye who have gone through several marriages, I really do," she tells the mag, "and it's just those are the cards that life dealt me. I didn't plan on it being that way. And f--- me, it hasn't been easy, you know."
But Ned has made things easier. "Thank God for Ned—really," she gushes. "He's just so incredibly supportive, and he's so much fun. He's absolutely everything to me. And to all of us."
Kate also talks about her famous figure. Now that she's about to hit the big 4-0 (her birthday's October 5), she says her priorities around it have changed: It's more about being strong and healthy for her children.
"We all focus on our bodies in our late teens and our early 20s, in a way that is just not cool or healthy," she says. "In your 30s, you become aware of staying fit. Now I view my physical self as an instrument that I have to keep going because I'm a mother, and I have to be as healthy as I can for those three people who need me—more than I need for myself to be in a f---ing nude scene."
Ha! Love her.

“The whole point is for everybody to pick it up and go, ‘I’d like to thank my son and my dad,'" she explains. "And you can always tell when someone has, because they’re in there a little bit longer after they flushed. They’ll come out looking slightly pink-cheeked. It’s hysterical.”
Ha! Best, best, BEST.
