A non-retouched photo of 48-year-old mom of two Cindy Crawford has gone viral on Twitter, and we love it.
[Update Feb 18: The photo has since been removed from the original tweet. ]
A non-retouched, possibly leaked photo of Cindy Crawford wearing lingerie has gone viral on Twitter today: "Cindy Crawford's April spread in Marie Claire features 100% non-retouched photos," tweets ITV News broadcaster Charlene White, alongside the photo. "Take a bow Ms. C."
Apparently, the photo is from a 2013 photo shoot with Marie Claire Mexico and Latin America—and rumours are swirling that there are plans for it to be printed in the upcoming issue of Marie Claire. So, this may be a leak ahead of the issue's release.
Regardless of its origins (and if or where it will be published this spring), this image is a big deal. To see the 48-year-old mother of two—who happens to be one of the world's most celebrated supermodels—as she really is in a magazine glamour shot is groundbreaking. As we all know, Hollywood women aren't expected to age. None of us are expected to age. But, as Cindy recently told Marie Claire, one of the best secrets to aging is to be "comfortable in your own skin." This photo is a beautiful demonstration of that.
(One could argue it was actress Jamie Lee Curtis who tried to get this ball rolling when she appeared makeup-free and scantily clad in non-retouched photos in More Magazine's feature "Jamie Lee Curtis: True Thighs" back in 2002.)
Moms and women everywhere are celebrating the release of this photo. "Take a bow," indeed.
