Cheerios' interracial family returns in first-ever Super Bowl ad

Cheerios recently released their first-ever 2014 Super Bowl Sunday commercial titled “Gracie” and the results are heartwarming.

Parents: Reminisce about the first time you broke the news to your eldest child that you were having another baby. Every kid takes the news differently. Gracie, as portrayed in the ad, takes advantage of the opportunity to ask for a puppy. If only I had thought of that.

More importantly, Cheerios is bringing interracial marriage to light again, despite the racist backlash they received from their 2013 ad entitled “Just Checking,” which featured the same family.

The ad has received (mostly) positive feedback on social media this time around. Positive responses from viewers will be what encourage major companies to continue to produce endearing commercials such as “Gracie.” So just get with the times, enjoy, and let’s celebrate our families.
