Jennifer Garner talks co-parenting with Ben Affleck—and the nanny scandal

The actress is incredibly candid in a new interview, where she calls Ben the "love of her life."

It's been awhile since we've heard from Jennifer Garner. The actress has been lying low since her split from Ben. But now she's talking about her divorce—and those rumours of Ben cheating with the nanny.

"We had been separated for months before I ever heard about the nanny," Jen says to Vanity Fair. "She had nothing to do with our decision to divorce. She was not a part of the equation. Bad judgment? Yes. It’s not great for your kids for [a] to disappear from their lives… I have had to have conversations about the meaning of ‘scandal.’”

Wow! Celebrities aren't usually so open about breakups—they usually just deny, deny, deny. But Jen didn't hold back in this interview and frankly it's a bit heartbreaking.

“I didn’t marry the big fat movie star; I married him,” she says. “And I would go back and remake that decision. I ran down the beach to him, and I would again. You can’t have these three babies and so much of what we had. He’s the love of my life. What am I going to do about that? He’s the most brilliant person in any room, the most charismatic, the most generous. He’s just a complicated guy. I always say, ‘When his sun shines on you, you feel it.’ But when the sun is shining elsewhere, it’s cold. He can cast quite a shadow.”

Well, that's quite a statement. But Jen claims that she doesn't hate Ben (and you shouldn't either, she says) and that they are working hard to co-parent their three kids—Violet, 10, Seraphina, 7, and Sam, 3.

“The main thing is these kids—and we’re completely in line with what we hope for them. Sure, I lost the dream of dancing with my husband at my daughter’s wedding. But you should see their faces when he walks through the door. And if you see your kids love someone so purely and wholly, then you’re going to be friends with that person.”

Sorry, but the line about not dancing with her husband is making me all weepy. But good for you, Ben and Jen. Put those kids first. A few weeks ago, the couple even went away on a trip with the kids.

Jen admits that she's feeling quite low—there have only been a few days where she's taken the kids to school and then gone back to bed—but she's looking forward to  "getting past the pity stage. I look forward to just having a sense of humor.” Until then, she's got her daughter, Violet, to help her through. Jen reveals she and Violet are bunking together right now.

“I’m happy to have her; she’s happy to have me.”

And if you're wondering if love is on the horizon for Jen, it's not likely. A man asked her out for coffee at the airport—and Jen was pretty stunned.

"I was like, 'No! You may not take me for a cup of coffee, sir.' And then I said, 'But thanks for asking.'"

Gosh, she's lovely! If you do want to date Jen, don't text her, but do send flowers!
