Here's why Cate Blanchett and her husband, Andrew Upton, recently gave their three boys a baby sister. Plus! Check out the baby's name.
Earlier this month, news broke that Oscar winning-actress Cate Blanchett, 45, and her husband, Andrew Upton, adopted a baby girl.
Already parents to three boys—Dashiell, 13, Roman, 10 and Ignatius, almost 7—Cate and Andrew, indeed, gave us quite a surprise! The resounding response to the news was, "Awww, she wanted a girl."
While that may be true, Cate gave a different answer when Sky News asked her about her family's new addition when they interviewed her on the blue carpet at the Australia premiere of Cinderella yesterday (Sunday, March 15), in Sydney's State Theatre.
"Fourth time around—it's extraordinary," she said. "You know, there are a lot of children out there who don't have the good fortune that our biological children do, so it's wonderful to welcome a little girl into our fold—we're besotted."
And the baby's name is... Edith Vivian Patricia.
Of course, you can catch the Cate, brilliant as ever, as the evil stepmother in the new Cinderella—in theatres now. ICYMI: Check out the trailer here.
