Megan Follows, who starred as Anne with an "e," in the 1985 flick Anne of Green Gables (and all the other subsequent heartwarming tales), left some pretty big shoes to fill. But Northwood Entertainment is on the lookout for a feisty new redhead to play the Avonlea orphan.
Anne—an eight-episode adaptation based on Lucy Maud Montgomery's much-loved books— has been picked up by the CBC and will begin filming this summer. The production company is hosting auditions in Canada, the U.S. and Europe, and hopeful Anne Shirleys aged 11-14 can audition at open casting calls between May 7 and 30 as The Anne Search makes its way across the country. The search starts in Toronto on May 7/8 , moves to Vancouver May 14/15, then to Charlottetown (of course!) May 28 and finally, Halifax on May 30.
