10 Safe Ways To Use Your Snuggle Me Lounger
With baby nests and loungers being recalled across Canada, the Snuggle Me Lounger is still going viral. Here’s why parents trust the brand's newest model and how to use it safely.

Trends in baby gear come and go, but infant support cushions have been baby-registry must-haves since around 2006, when Sleepyhead of Sweden (now known as Dock-A-Tot) launched in Scandinavia. Now Snuggle Me, which launched in 2007 and slowly gained popularity, is the brand that moms discuss on Reddit, in group chats and Facebook groups.
And in a market that's growing increasingly confusing for parents, because of new strict safety standards and product recalls, Snuggle Me's newest launch stands out. So popular, it keeps selling out at Nordstrom, the Lounger Curve was launched to meet new U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) guidelines.
Before making a purchase, here's everything to know about this viral item: how parents use it, safety standards and tips for keeping it clean.
What parents need to know about Snuggle Me Loungers
In May, the CPSC implemented new safety standards for baby loungers. Health Canada also has similar guidelines under the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act (CCPSA). Despite these products being marketed for use with awake babies, they were often misused by consumers. It's the age-old dilemma: the baby fell asleep somewhere they're not supposed to sleep, should I move them and risk waking them? The answer is always yes. Move them to a safe sleeping surface.
The new standards dictated that any infant support cushions produced before June 2022 or not meeting the current guidelines be discontinued. Meanwhile, the Canadian safety guidelines include all baby nests or loungers as potential sleep surfaces if their design suggests sleep use or they are likely to be used for sleep.
To be clear, the only Snuggle Me model that meets the new CPSC standards is the Snuggle Me Lounger Curve.
What makes the Snuggle Me Lounger Curve different?

Olivia Davis, General Manager at Snuggle Me Organic, credits the Lounger Curve's popularity to a blend of style, adaptability and real-life practicality. As Davis explains, “The gently curved sides give baby a secure feel, like a soft hug. That cozy sensation can help babies relax, stay content and engage more happily during wakeful periods.”
“This lounger combines the cozy, beautiful design Snuggle Me is known for with several key upgrades to the original model," Davis explains. "It’s now easier to clean, suitable for tummy time and more travel-friendly,” Davis explains.
Portability is another big reason parents keep reaching for the lounger. “Most parents move from room to room many times a day,” says Davis. “We’re cooking, working, folding laundry, squeezing in that cup of coffee. The Snuggle Me Lounger Curve is simple to move wherever you need to be, so you can bring your baby along, keep them comfortable and close and still get things checked off your list."
And, of course, safety is another headline feature. “The Lounger Curve is one of the only loungers out there that fully complies with the latest federal safety standards after the CPSC’s updated Infant Cushion Rule went into effect in May,” says Davis. “We’ve added clear safe-use and warning labels right on the lounger, plus QR codes so parents can quickly access additional safety info anytime.”
Essential safety tips

Safety is paramount with baby loungers. Just this August, Health Canada issued an alert urging parents to stop using recalled baby nests and loungers, including popular brands like Style Life Eleven and Zoomie Kids, after reports of suffocation, strangulation and entrapment. The message here is crystal clear: for sleep, only choose a crib, cradle or bassinet with a firm, flat surface that's up to Canadian safety standards to lower the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Loungers should never be used for sleep.
That said, while the Snuggle Me Lounger is safe for supervised downtime, Davis stresses it's never for sleep and parents should not leave their children unattended.
“Safety is always our top priority at Snuggle Me Organic,” she explains. “The new Lounger Curve isn’t just thoughtfully designed—it also meets the latest U.S. CPSC Infant Cushion Rule, making it one of the few loungers out there to comply with federal standards. Parents can trust that the Lounger Curve has undergone rigorous testing and checks every box for safety and compliance.”
Each product also includes clear guidance. Davis says that each product comes with clear, accessible guidance, so parents can feel confident from day one. "For the Lounger Curve, that means using it only under supervision, always on a firm, flat floor and never for naps, co-sleeping or any type of sleep. If a baby drifts off on a lounger, it's vital to move them right away to a safe sleep spot."
How to use the Snuggle Me
The golden rule is simple: supervision, always. Children's sleep consultant Rebecca Michi recommends that parents stay within arm's reach and keep their little one in sight at all times.
Placement matters, too. Instead of putting the lounger on a bed, sofa or table, Michi suggests keeping it on the floor. "Being on the floor eliminates fall risks and gives the most stable foundation," she explains. "The supervising adult should remain alert and engaged around the baby."
Follow age and weight recommendations. Michi points out, "The manufacturer’s age and weight limits help reduce risks with the Snuggle Me. As babies grow stronger and more mobile, they may roll, push up or shift in unexpected ways, making the product’s containment less effective and increasing the risk of dangerous positioning."
Smart travel tips for road trips and flights

Parenting expert, nurse practitioner and mom of three, Olivia Urhart, swears by Snuggle Me loungers as a travel essential—whether you're piling into the car or boarding a plane. Here's how she makes the most of it on the go.
Packing made simple
When it comes to taking the lounger along on trips, Uhart says there are several ways to pack it.
"If I am going on a road trip, I slip it into a garbage bag to keep it clean and toss it in the car," she explains. "For plane travel, I will put it into a large packing cube (laid flat or folded in half), depending on my suitcase. We also have brought it as a carry-on, especially to have some hands-free time on a long flight."
Perfect for pit stops
While the Snuggle Me Lounger should never replace a car seat on the road, Uhart suggests that it can make pit stops a whole lot easier.
"I like to wrap the lounger in a familiar blanket (bonus: less laundry in case of messes) and set it up once you pull over," she says. "Whether on a park bench, picnic table or even the grass outside a coffee shop, the lounger gives your baby a cozy place to stretch out. To add a sense of home, I also suggest bringing a sound machine or other comfort cues that your baby knows."
A lifesaver during layovers
Airports rarely feel baby-friendly, but Uhart points out that the Snuggle Me Lounger can transform an exhausting layover.
"On a layover, you can place the baby on their lounger on the floor or a wide seat with their chest on the edge of the lounger," she recommends. "For entertainment, you can prop up a book, flash sight cards or place toys just out of reach."
Snuggle Me hacks for everyday outings
Heading out with your baby doesn't have to mean sacrificing comfort. In fact, tossing the Snuggle Me Lounger in your bag (or car) can make visiting friends or spending the day at Grandma's house feel a lot easier.
“Babies thrive on familiarity. Having their lounger with them provides a sensory space that feels safe in a new environment,” says Jenna Papaioannou, an occupational therapist and feeding specialist. "It can even double as a makeshift breastfeeding pillow, making it a multifunctional tool that supports both feeding and development when you're on the move.”
Of course, safety comes first. According to the Snuggle Me website, the lounger should always be placed on a firm, flat surface and used only while your baby is awake. Skip adding toys inside or around it to keep the space clear and be sure an adult is always nearby. Above all else, remember: the lounger is not a sleep space.
How to clean your Snuggle Me
When it’s time to wash, the brand suggests keeping things light: covers can go in on a cold cycle with a mild, fragrance-free detergent. Just avoid pouring the detergent directly onto the fabric and give it its own wash day without other items in the machine.
For drying, low and slow works best. You can pop the cover on a cool setting or simply let it air dry to help maintain the shape. If the filling inside shifts around, a quick fluff usually does the trick. And if the cover feels a little snug after washing, gently stretch it while it’s damp and let it finish drying—this can help it find its shape again without much effort.
