Update from Health Canada: Groupe Lemur Inc. has recalled various Pekkle Baby Sleepers with metal snaps. The sleepers come in six sizes for 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months, 18 months and 24 months. The recall was issued because the metal snaps on the sleepers may detach or fall off resulting in a choking or laceration hazard for children.
The following lots with these fabric patterns are included in the recall:
- Horses (C62-610D)
- Multi-colour Stripe Clouds (C62-612P)
- Beach Faves (C62-614Q)
- Dragonfly (C62-616H)
- Sports Alphabet (C63-611K)
- City Transport (C63-613S)
- Dragon (C63-615U)
- Multi-colour Stripe Bear (C63-617X)
The lot number can be found on the label sewn in to the inside of the left leg of the sleeper.
As of May 8, three reports of incidents in Canada have been received by the company, including one report of a laceration injury to an infant.
Approximately 79,305 units of the affected products were sold in Canada at Costco retail stores between March 2017 to April 2017 (lot number C62 sleepers) and between February 2017 to April 2017 (lot number C63 sleepers).
What should you do?
If you have an affected sleeper, you should immediately stop using it and return the affected product to the nearest Costco Wholesale location to receive a full refund.
Coscto Canada is voluntarily pulling Pekkle baby sleepers from its shelves after a complaint in mid-April that a snap fell off and scratched a child.
