Health Canada and Mattel Canada Inc. have recalled 2,000 of Fisher-Price's Soothing Motions Seat due to a risk of fire. The affected models are CMR35, CMR36 and CMR37 that were sold at various retailers in Canada between November 2016 and October 2017. Model numbers are located on the underside of the seat base.

Health Canada says the motor housing at the base of the seat may overheat, posing a fire hazard. There have been two reported overheating incidents in Canada, but no reported injuries. This is a joint recall with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, where 34 incidents of overheating have been reported and 63,000 units are being recalled.

What should you do? If you own a recalled model, unplug it and stop using it immediately.  Those affected can contact Mattel for instructions on how to obtain a refund. For more information, consumers can click here or contact Mattel toll free at 1-800-432-5437 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. ET Monday through Friday.
