RECALL: Water Balz and Growing Skulls expanding toys

Health Canada has reported the recall of "Water Balz" and "Growing Skulls" expanding toys, by Dunecraft.

When swallowed, the marble-sized toy will expand in the body, blocking the small intestine, and potentially causing life-threatening complications. The ingested toy does not show up in X-rays but needs to be surgically removed if ingested. Symptoms of ingestion include vomiting, extreme discomfort and dehydration.

In the US, there are two more models of the toy: "Despicable Me" and "Fabulous Flowers." Please see the CPSC recall for information on these items.

There has been one report in the US. An eight-month-old baby swallowed a Water Balz and suffered an intestinal blockage. The item had to be removed through surgery.

These toys have been sold in stores throughout Canada from September 2010 to November 2012.

If you have these items:
Immediately take the toys away from your kids, and contact Dunecraft to receive a substitute toy: Call 1-800-306-4168 ext.109.
