Q: My daughter has prescription eye drops for her eye allergies, but my wife and I are having trouble administering the drops — she's really afraid of them. Is there a kid-friendly method to make eye drops easier? A: Eye drops can be scary for children, and even many adults. Explain to your child why it is important to take the medication. If that doesn't work, here's an easy method: Have your daughter wash her face and then lie down on a couch.Ask her to gently close her eyes, and then aim the eye drop in the corner of the eye and have her gently blink the drop in. Once you do this a couple of times, her fear should decrease and you can administer the drops the traditional way.
