Manitoba Children’s Museum

The Manitoba Children’s Museum, a hands-on space designed just for kids, offers nine different birthday party packages to choose from, including one for kids as young as one. Each package is filled with engaging, interactive activities, whether it’s dressing up as royalty, making toy boats or creating strange potions. Parties cost $200 during regular hours and $300 after hours (museum members get a 10 percent discount). Partygoers have access to a private room to open presents and enjoy food, which parents can either purchase at the museum’s gift store or, if pizza is the food of choice, order at a special rate from Domino’s Pizza. Once the party is over, everyone is welcome to stay and explore the museum’s 12 permanent exhibits or travelling exhibits.

Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada

There’s so much high-flying fun at parties held at the Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada. For $160, a party host takes up to 20 guests (children and adults) on a tour of the hangar, where they get to check out planes and helicopters. Then it’s off to the private party room, where a host leads kids through an activity, such as making paper planes or rockets. After serving food and cake (provided by the parents) and opening presents, it’s time for the host to take the kids to the Skyways Interactive Gallery, where they get to explore a four-seater plane with a cockpit, a wind tunnel and other fun flight-related props. After the 2 1/2-hour party is over, everyone is welcome to stay and take in the rest of the museum.

YMCA-YWCA of Winnipeg

Anyone can host a full-of-fun party for kids at one of the four YMCA-YWCA Winnipeg locations. As of September 5, there is new pricing and two options to choose from. For the second option, which is also two hours long, you get a private party room, a staff member to help with the setup, greeting and cleanup, use of the swimming pool and one of three activities: a sports package filled with scooter games or soccer, a kids’ Zumba class or Sky’s the Limit (where the kids get to play on an inflatable bouncer, a mini-trampoline and jump-and-tumble equipment).
