When you're a parent, "Netflix and chill" means your kid watches some PAW Patrol while you finally sit down for a second and relax. Excessive screen time obviously isn't ideal, but a bit of Netflix here and there won't hurt. If the kids are getting bored of what's already available, check out what's new for kids on Netflix Canada for February.
Note: Age recommendations are approximate. Every kid is different—you're the best judge of what's appropriate and what your kid can handle.
The Little Engine That Could Best for: Ages 4+ Featuring an all-star cast (including Jamie Lee Curtis!), the timeless story comes to life in this feature-length film filled with fun and adventure. Available Feb. 17.
Transformers: Robots in Disguise (season 2) Best for: Ages 8+ When a prison ship crash unleashes hundreds of Decepticons on Earth, Bumblebee leads a new Autobot force to protect humankind. Available Feb. 17.
Project MC2 Valentine's Day Special Best for: Ages 7+ The girls visit NOV8's amazing headquarters, where the Quail gives them a new mission involving an old friend. But something strange is afoot. Available Feb. 14.
The BFG Best for: Ages 7+ In this Disney movie, a girl named Sophie encounters the Big Friendly Giant who, despite his intimidating appearance, turns out to be a kindhearted soul who is considered an outcast by the other giants because, unlike them, he refuses to eat children. Available Feb. 16.
Dragons: Race to the Edge (season 4) Best for: Ages 8+ The Dragon Riders earn the trust of another tribe and form an alliance against Viggo, who's busy creating a new secret weapon: Project Shell Fire. Available Feb. 17.
Veggietales in the City Best for: Ages 4+ Larry, Bob and their Veggie pals expand their horizons, presenting colorful, inspiring tales from the city as well as their own backyards. Note: The stories on this show may convey moral themes based on Christianity and the Bible. Available Feb. 24.
The Land Before Time XIV: Journey of the Brave Best for: Ages 6+ When Littlefoot’s father doesn’t return from a trip, the brave dinosaur and his pals set off on a rescue mission through strange new lands. Available Feb. 12.
Ella Enchanted Best for: Ages 8+ Burdened with the “gift” of obedience by a fairy godmother, Ella searches for a way to lift the curse that prevents her from pursuing her dreams. Stars Anne Hathaway. Available Feb. 1.
Masha's Spooky Stories (season 1, episodes 5 & 6) Best for: Ages 4+ Little Masha shares tales of common childhood fears like ghosts and monsters. She playfully explains why these creatures are nothing to worry about. Available Feb. 1.
Last call: Home All good things must come to an end. The movie Home will be removed from Netflix Canada on February 25. If your kids love it, get in a few viewings before then.
