Ask any parent who's flown with a baby and they'll all agree that it's hard. You're stuck in a big metal tube up in the air with a potentially fussy baby in your lap and even fussier strangers around you giving some serious side-eye.
When Marissa Rundell boarded a Delta Airlines flight with her son Mason earlier this month, the woman sitting next to her was not having it and decided to throw a full-on, adult tantrum. We wish we were kidding about this one.
According to an interview with Rundell in the Daily Mail, the woman was the last to board and started cursing when she realized she had to sit in the back of the plane. "She came to the back and slammed her bags down," said Rundell. "She said 'This is f****** ridiculous. It's bulls**t having to sit in the back of the plane.'"
Hearing this, Rundell asked her not to swear in front of her infant son, but the irate woman ignored her and continued to complain. After Rundell repeated her request, the woman apparently turned to her and told her to shut the f*** up and shove it. That's when the flight attendant came over and asked what the problem was. It's also when Rundell decided to started recording on her phone.
Rundell posted the video on Facebook, showing the woman in full tantrum mode asking to be moved to another seat. "I'm not sitting next to a crying baby," said the woman. Funnily enough, Mason wasn't crying at the time and is perfectly silent during the whole clip. On top of that, you can see that they aren't even sitting next to each other—there was an empty seat and an aisle in between the two women.
AND on top of that, the plane was flying from New York City to Syracuse, NY, which has an average flight time of only 37 minutes. Even if Mason had been crying, surely the woman could've bit the bullet and dealt with it for a little over half an hour. Like, come on, has she never heard of ear plugs?
The flight attendant kindly offered to get her a seat on the next flight, but the woman huffed that a flight change was not an option. Instead, she begrudgingly took her seat, but asked for the flight attendants name and threatened to get her fired. That's when the flight attendant—who's name, we learn, is Tabitha—decided to put her foot down.
"I want this lady off my flight." BOOM.
"This lady thought she was going to be rude to me and Mason now she has no way home today," Rundell wrote in the caption of the video. "Thank you to the lovely Delta flight attendant for not letting this women bully us. Karma is a b****." We can't help but agree. Tabitha, you are a goddess amongst all of us lowly humans. Thank you for sticking up for a mom and a baby who did nothing wrong besides existing on the same plane with a real cry baby.
