RECALL: Skip Hop Moonlight & Melodies nightlight soothers

Health Canada, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission and Skip Hop have recalled the Skip Hop Moonlight & Melodies owl and elephant nightlight soothers due to a potential electric shock hazard.

The affected products play melodies or nature sounds and project images and come in a white and gray owl version and a white elephant version, each with sound speakers on each side and operation buttons at the top or the back.

The recall was issued because the product's USB wall power adapter can break, posing an electrical shock hazard. As of September 25, 2017, the company has received 4 reports of broken adapters in Canada, and 1 report of shock. In the United States, the company has received 6 reports of broken adapters, and no reports of injury.

Approximately 21,500 units of the affected products were sold in Canada and approximately 130,000 were distributed in the United States, between July 2016 to August 2017.

What should you do?

If you have one of the recalled products, you should stop using it immediately and contact Skip Hop for instructions on returning the USB wall power adapter with a prepaid shipping label and receive a free repair kit, which includes a free USB wall adapter.
