Saje has recalled its Splish Splash Gentle Baby Wash because it contains the bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The company recently discovered the bacteria in a test of the product and is encouraging customers to stop using the product and return it for a full refund.

So far, Health Canada says the company has received 16 reports of incidents, such as  skin irritations, but the bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa can also lead to blood infections, particularly in individuals with compromised immune systems. Symptoms of an infection include a skin rash, redness, irritation, an earache, fever, chills, confusion or shock. If you notice any unusual reactions or symptoms in your child, see a doctor immediately.

The recall includes both the 50 mL and 250 mL formats of the Splish Splash Gentle Baby Wash, as well as the product that is found in Saje's Wee and Well Gentle Baby Care Kit. All lots have been recalled.

Find out more information about the recall from Saje. You can return the product in person, or arrange for a pre-paid return via mail by calling 1-877-275-7253 or emailing hello@saje.com.
