3 things to do on a winter walk

Bird feeders
Place a small amount of birdseed in your child’s hand; have her play statue with her arm resting on a railing or tree branch, waiting for birds to land. A little patience is all it takes — the birds will do the rest!

I spy…
Before you leave home, make a list of items your little one can look for and check off, like “your breath,” icicles or animals. Things like pine cones, feathers or leaves can be used for a fun craft later.

Stay on track
Use a digital camera and take photos of tracks in the snow. When you get home, help your junior wilderness explorer figure out which animals have been pawing around.

    there's a trail near my house, with upwards of 40 birdfeeders that someone has taken the time to put up. we love walking along the path, counting feeders and birds. nice tip-thx
