Chill out this weekend with a good book

A couple Saturdays ago, when Canada Post delivered my copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, it hit me: I haven't actually read a novel in ages. Sure, I devour dozens and dozens (and dozens) of magazines each month (it comes with the job, plus it's my passion), but I miss climbing into bed, or sitting in the sun, with a nice, fat book.

I've always been a voracious reader. I still remember getting Dr. Doolittle (the 300-page-plus version) as a gift for passing Grade 3. And the Tooth Fairy never left money under my pillow—she'd leave Nancy Drew hardcovers by my bed. (Number 21: The Secret in the Old Attic was my favourite.) Back then I had all the time in the world to just sit, chill out and read.

If you find yourself with a few hours of free time and you're looking for a great book, visit the Book Club forum to see what other parents are reading. Not sure what to read to your little one? Our Find-a-Book tool will give you lots of ideas.

This weekend, I'm hoping to put a dent in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. I've obviously got a bit of catching up to do before I start book seven.

See you next time,
