A Parent's Pet Primer
Finding
the right pet – or deciding on none at all –
is not an easy task for most of us parents. It’s
hard to resist the pleas of your child, who just has
to have a cute little furry creature for her very own.
But trust me, do not leave logic behind as you go off
to the pet store or local humane society. I did, several
years ago, and wound up with two cats for my then seven-year-old
daughter. She was absolutely delighted with her birthday
present for at least... a day. Then the novelty wore
off and her allergies kicked in. I learned my lesson,
the cats eventually found a better home, and today we
have several fish, Speedo the lizard and a crayfish
we call Count Olaf. That’s quite enough for us,
thank you!
If you’re contemplating an addition to your household
– whether furry, feathery or scaly – do
use our new Pick-a-Pet
tool, to make the right choice for your family.
Until
next time,

Tips to Keep You Cool - From firefighter Shane
Ferguson:
Wear a short-sleeved shirt in the kitchen – it’s
the safest. This is because long, loose-sleeved shirts can
accidentally contact heating elements and catch fire. Also,
turn all pot handles away from the outside of the range, to
avoid them from being bumped or upset, causing fire or burns.
