Fire Safety Begins at Home
Let
me introduce you to someone special. His name is Shane
Ferguson and he's made it his mission in life to keep
our children safe from fires. Shane, a Winnipeg firefighter,
won a Today's Parent For Kids' Sake Award last
year. (You can read
why he so deserved this honour.)
Shane dedicates his time to developing fire-safety-related
games and activities which teach children and their
parents what to do in the case of a fire in their home.
His non-profit organization, Staying
Alive, has designed a website and an animated game
called The Great Escape, which shows kids how to get
out of a fire safely. He recently approached Today's
Parent to see if we could help him spread the word.
Consider it done, Shane.
Look for regular fire safety tips in this newsletter,
and for all our kids' safety, please pass them on.
Until
next time,
