You know how important car seats are for your children. In recent years, better designs and stricter laws have saved the lives of countless kids. But that doesn’t make using them any easier. The sheer number of models to choose from is staggering. Rear-facing, convertibles, 3-in-1s, backless boosters.… Which one is right for your child? And how do you use it properly?

We’re here to help. Today’s Parent asked a panel of car seat experts what families need to know to choose the best seat, use it right and avoid mistakes. So buckle up and enjoy the ride.

The right seat for your child

Every car seat sold in Canada must meet the Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (CMVSS) and must have a National Safety Mark sticker. It’s important to buy Canadian — our standards are more rigorous than those in the United States.
