Locking Links Snap & Snuggle Gym
(0m+, Little Tikes, $70, 3 AA batteries included)
Velcro the ends and fluff up the folded sides to make this double-arched infant gym convert to a snugly “walled” enclosure. There are two arches and five loops to attach toys for baby’s gazing pleasure. Includes a slide-in electronic panel to add lights and sounds when baby is older.

This gym offers 360 degrees of entertainment. Colin likes to lie down, but inevitably ends up rolling over, and when he does, there’s always something to discover.” Dion Yungblut

Lamaze Lights & Sounds Barnyard Crawl Toy
(9–24m, Learning Curve, $30, 3 AA batteries included)
It looks like a large hourglass tipped on its side and when it rolls, the plastic beads inside it make a swishing sound. There are motion-activated lights and music, but even with the switch turned off, the bold patterned graphics and colourful knotted strings make this floor toy an interesting destination for crawling infants.

A simple toy that does exactly what it is intended to do: encourage my child to crawl. The toy is great for giving Kalina (8½m) some active time; maybe it’ll even wear her out for her nap.” Karen Positan
