Here’s a little something your child can make to tuck under the plates or inside teacups at a holiday meal – part decoration, part treat.

You'll need:
little crepe paper in a seasonal colour
few stickers
stars or little pictures for decoration
a glue stick
ribbon

• Help him cut the crepe paper into rectangles about 3½ by 5 in. (9 cm by 12 cm) and glue two sides together into a bag – leave one end open. (Show him how to apply short strokes with the glue stick: crepe paper is quite stretchy in one direction.)

• Fancy it up with stickers or stars.

• When the little bags are dry, fill gently with a couple of wrapped candies and tie with a piece of ribbon. Hide under the rim of plates for a sweet surprise.
