It's a big week for Addy... and Lisa.

Addy is starting soccer this week

It's a huge week for Addy. On Thursday we're taking her to "Welcome to Kindergarten" night at her new school. She'll meet her fellow students, teachers and kind principal, and will see the JK classrooms where she'll spend a couple days a week starting in September. I'm not going to lie... I'm nervous.

Pretty sure I threw up at "Welcome to Kindergarten" night when I was a shy little four-year-old. Let's hope my kid doesn't follow in her mommy's footsteps. (More on this Thursday night.) Then, on Saturday, Addy will don her running shoes and jersey, and will start her season with our local Little Kickers soccer club. What does this mean? It means Addy will work on her social skills and meet new kids her age; it means she'll get some quality fun and exercise added to her weekends; and it means I'm now a soccer mom. (Me? Soccer mom?)

As many of you know, I've been meaning to sign Addy up for something for the past couple of years. Since she's been talking about playing soccer for a while, and Dr. C (and the principal at her new school) said it would be super helpful for her to hang out with other kids her age, and other adults, before September. This will be the first class/group session/program she's ever participated in (besides my StrollerFit and Mommy and Me fitness classes when she was seven months old).

She's really excited. (So am I. I'm thinking I should get myself some cute soccer mom outfits to wear when I'm cheering her on.)

Do any of you parents have kids who play in Little Kickers? Do your tots enjoy the program?

Peter (Addyson’s Dad) didn’t pick daisy’s but he certainly had fun playing in the dirt when he first started playing soccer, we found out later that soccer was just way too much exercise for him, he graduated to baseball where if you are good you can hit the ball over the fence, or in those early days a few feet and then by the time the other kids get the ball one has successfully walked to first base, and if you are lucky, all the way home.

Good luck Addyson (baby cakes) and have fun ….G.G.

Don't sweat the welcome to kindergarten thing too much...at least you aren't me!!!! Our welcome to kindy is tomorrow afternoon and not only is my last child going to go to kindy this fall but I was asked/told by the principal that I have to give a 3 minute speech to the 60+ families! OMG! I may barf tomorrow!

Public speaking isn't usually something that worries me, but for whatever reason this event worries me more than anything!

Hope Addy enjoys soccer. Don't be surprised if she spends more time picking daisies than playing though. It's par for the course for the little ones.
