Will Ferrell: Parenthood is like running a prison

"Upstairs, now!" "Brush teeth!" Will Ferrell is making us laugh today, talking about what it's like parenting three boys.

Will Ferrell, 47, is at it again with the parenting jokes.

By the way, love when Will talks about parenting (or, well, anything, really)! I'm still laughing at the advice he gave Nicole Kidman when her daughter Sunday Rose was born, in 2008:

Talk to your children, at least once a week. If you've got time, do it two or three times a week. But otherwise, I find the times where I let weeks and weeks go by without talking to my children—that adds up.

Haha, right?! Well, today I'm happy to report, Will's talking about parenting again, and particularly, what it's like being dad to three boys—Axel, 5, Mattias, 8, and Magnus, 11—with his wife of 15 years, Viveca Paulin, 45.

“I can only imagine, but I sometimes equate it to what it must be like running a prison,” Will told People at the SXSW premiere of his new film Get Hard. (Are you giggling at that movie title, too? Or, am I still 12? Don't answer that.)

“What happens with three boys is you end up barking out orders like, ‘Upstairs now!’ ‘Brush teeth!’ ‘Lights out!’” Will said. “There is so much chaos you can’t really take the time to articulate.”

Will admits to losing his temper with his kids in "rare moments." At those times, he says he thinks to himself, "Oh, if anyone was a fly on the wall, they'd be like 'Will Ferrell is not a funny father! He's way too strict.'"

So, what about you? Do you feel like a drill sergeant in your household, too, sometimes? I do occasionally. And come to think about it, it's those times that I feel most effective! Hmmm...
