Today's parent, again showing they are out of touch, bordering on irrelevant.

I'm a little disappointed - there's no variety. I wish the article would have mentioned that it was only Apple iTunes and the age range of children. Right now it just looks like an ad for Apple iTunes. :-(

I agree where are the android apps? I would be helpful to know about those too.

anything for good ole canadian blackberry????
DaleB (not verified) says ....
I agree unfort. it seems that the magazine is one sided at this time as it is THE product of the market but as the stats say, android is making a statement! As some others state: Not all of us can afford Apple stuff... some have a pref. to blackberry or android as well. Please look into adding for us OTHER systems too, Thank You!

I am an Android user and my kids love all the angry birds games, cut the rope, where's my water/perry, the lego games, OM books, dino digger, ant smasher, balloon blast, plumber, kids doodle, kaleidoscope, connect'em, uno, fling a thing, and ceramic destroyer. I just found some jump start games that look promising as well. my kids are 4 and 7.

Monkey Preschool Lunchbox is also on android. Great research went into this article I see LOL.

As an Android user, my favorite app is called Kid Mode. This app is a child lock so they can only use the app you have approved for them. You can set it up for each child individually so the games displayed can be age specific. It even comes with its own pre loaded games and videos.
The best part is that once in the mode, they can't exit out and get into anything else. I have found 1 drawback, you can't answer the phone.

Again I open the article hoping for a hint of good android or blackberry apps, and again I am disappointed at finding only IPad and IPhone apps. I see all these comments of parents who feel the same as me, and yet it seems that we are not heard. Unfortunately not all of us can afford Apple products, and there is a shortage of app reviews for other tablets. Today's Parent, please hear us out, and give us some support too!
Thank you.

An echo of the multitude of coments, where are all the android or blackberry apps??? Why not just call the post "best iPhone apps". Very disappointing and quite frankly a waste of my time to scroll through all the images.

The Lost Kidz App is probably the most important App any parent can ever have on their iPhone.

Question to the mom who said her kids were out playing and didn't need technology for anything (not her exact words, but that's how I understood them). What were you doing while they were playing???? Typing away on some useless peice of technology no doubt!

grrrr i am with half of those that have posted already, anything we CAN use as owners of OTHER systems??? booooooo. maybe we can see something in the near future (please!!) as i am deseperately seeking apps that are 'parent' approved for kids 2-6yrs. as much as my kids love to play outside, together and use their imagination, sometimes they need some chill time and want to learn about all these gagets they see the world using!

Ummm....are you guys getting paid by Apple or something? Can you not provide any apps that are not specific to Apple products only?! It seems that anytime any kind of apps are featured they are only for Apple products. Being that this is a Canadian magazine it might be nice to actually support a Canadian company and provide apps for BlackBerry, not everyone has an iPhone.

I recently found a site for children from approx 3 to 10 years that gets them enthusiastic about reading. It's called readingeggs.com. My 5 year old daughter is always asking if she can do readingeggs!
They have a free trial to see if your child enjoys it or not. I took the plunge recently and purchased a subscription.
Vanessa N. (not verified) says ....
Agreed - read the article, but disappointed was iPhone only - some Android apps would have been great too!
Android User (not verified) says ....
Include the millions of Android users please. It would great if your magazine would also do the same.

I think there are better things for kids to do. Right now my two older kids are playing outside pretending they are in a circus and trying to balance on a wooden log. They don't need games on computers or phones to keep themselves busy. And it's okay if they are bored because that means they will something on their own to do that's fun and entertaining.

Sesame Street: The Fix-It Shop
Garage Band (This one is supposed to be for musicians but my kids love being able to play the instruments)
Flick Home Run

My kids are 2 & 4 and love all of these ones!

Also agree with other comments. This really should have been called "The Coolest iPhone apps for kids". Would love to see some Android recommendations.
crackintoes (not verified) says ....
I agree with Nora... I look at this article everytime and then am frustrated that it's all iTunes. Most recommendations seem to be for the little kids too. Any android apps recommendations and for older kids (7-10 range). Thanks

I think it is great that you are dedicating a space for apps. There are too many out there, and it is great to have some help. My problem though is that i have a blackberry playbook, and I never know what apps to choose for my kids, as all the reviews out there are for the Ipad. Could you dedicate some time to other apps too? It would be very helpful. Thank you!
